Girls Summer Vacation in Great Detail

I'd like to thank Megan for putting together this summary.  Reading through it I realized how many "bad mom" moments happened.  Opps!!!
Dad couldn't make this trip with us because of school but it was the perfect week to give him time to get lots of flights and work done.  Don't worry Scott did get to drive a very nice red Audi all week, went out for sushi with buddies, and got to finish the week with the fishing trip where the guys caught a hundred pounds of fish (I would tell you what kind but I can't remember).  That night they all went to someones house for a fish fry and he said the fish was amazing.

Week in Hilton Head Island, SC at the Marriott Surf Watch resort
SUNDAY:
  • Drove 7.5 hours to Hilton Head Island, SC. Stopping at the worst Arby’s ever. Only to find a Wendy’s at the next exit. When we drove through Jacksonville, FL we contemplated making a stop at Costco.
  • Got very excited about our rooms. The kitchen and bathrooms had granite countertops. All of the appliances were stainless steel. The master bathroom had an all stone walk in shower. Complete with four different shower heads. Five if you include the hand held attachment.
  • Took a walk on the beach.
  • For dinner we had Velveeta mac and cheese.
  • Got lost in the dark going to the Piggly Wiggly.
MONDAY:
  • Went to the beach with our buckets, shovels and camp chairs. The girls enjoyed playing in the sand.
  • Walked into the water. Adi tripped and sucked up a little ocean water. She didn’t like that. Ayzie was fearless while in the water. Anna saw a huge jelly fish come in with a wave next to Megan and Ayzlyn. Quick actions were taken to get Ayzlyn out of the water and we all ran back to shore. (Megan never saw this jelly.)
  • Went back to our hotel condo for baths. Ayzlyn went down for a nap with Anna. Megan and Adi went to the ‘color and cookies’ activity.
  • After nap time we got our swim suits on and headed down to the pool.
  • Megan marinated fresh chicken strips in a ginger teriyaki marinade. We all went down to BBQ the chicken together. We ate our dinner of BBQ chicken and salad on our balcony.
  • Around sunset we walked back to the beach. There we took pictures on the beach while the sun was setting. Ayzlyn loved the sand and covered herself and her sister.
  • For our girls night movie we watched ‘Tangled.’

TUESDAY:

  • Took a short drive to visit the Harbor Towne Lighthouse. We all walked to the top. At the top we could see the harbor, ocean and the famous PGA golf course.
  • Everywhere in Harbor Towne were red wooden rocking chairs. It was very picturesque.
  • Found a pizza place for lunch that didn’t serve any pizza.
  • Returned to our hotel for nap time.
  • Walked out to the pool closest to the beach. While we were there a man was playing cover songs with his guitar.
  • Back in our hotel room we mixed up a batch of chocolate chip oatmeal cookie dough. The dough never made it to cookie form because Anna and Megan went to town eating the dough.

  • WEDNESDAY:
  • Played down at the pool. There was a pool party with DJ Alan. Complete with good music, games, and fun. We even danced to the YMCA in the pool.
  • Anna and Megan got tattoos on their ankles. The airbrush kind of tattoo. Anna’s tattoo didn’t last long when she rescued Adi after she tripped in the kiddy pool.
  • The pool party served hamburgers they BBQ’d. We all shared two cheeseburgers.
  • A sweet pregnant woman backed up into the car scrapping off a good size of paint from the bumper.
  • After the sun set we walked to the fire pits. There we roasted marshmallows to make s’mores.
  • After the s’mores we took a walk to the pond/lake on the resort property. Along the way we saw 6 frogs. We took a break on a hammock and watched a mother duck protect her ducklings while they were sleeping.
  • Megan was the last one on the hammock and somehow fell off in a very non-elegant fashion.
  • Back up in our room we moved the pull-out sofa bed in front of the TV. Together we got a lot of pillows and blankets. We watched another girly movie, ‘27 dresses.’
  • This was an earlier bed time night. Adi and Anna went to bed. Megan took Ayzie for the night in her room.
THURSDAY:
  • There was a ‘Severe Weather Watch’ due to all the tornados coming through the South.
  • Before the weather got bad we spent the morning/early afternoon playing in the pool. Ayzie really enjoyed the warm water as she floated along in her yellow float ring.
  • The weather front started to come so we went inside for baths and nap time.
  • After nap time we left for shopping at the outlet mall. We found new shoes for the girls and a game of bingo.
  • For dinner Anna made stuffed French toast with fresh strawberries. Topping it all off with homemade buttermilk syrup.
  • In honor of the royal wedding the following morning we watched ‘What a Girl Wants.’ We watched it on the sofa bed again.
FRIDAY:
  • Morning routine started early when we all jumped on Megan’s king size bed to watch the royal wedding live.
  • We took a short drive to Savannah, GA. Without knowing it we parked in the Whitaker Street parking garage.
  • For our lunch we ate at a good wings restaurant. Our table was outside on the deck.
  • Anna found a carriage ride to tour the city. We decided to go on the horse drawn carriage. On our tour we saw where Forrest Gump was filmed. We saw the famous bench where Forrest had his box of chocolates. We passed by the ‘Six Pence Pub’ where the movie ‘Something to Talk About’ was filmed. There were other historical places like the home where the first Girl Scout meetings were, etc.
  • Back in Hilton Head we jumped in the pool to catch a few more sun rays.
  • Our dinner was tasty sundried tomato pasta with sausage. We ate our dinner on the balcony again.
  • We made rice crispy treats. Of which ½ were devoured that night.
  • Our girly movie for the night was ‘Failure to Launch.’ Again we watched it all together on the sofa bed.

SATURDAY:

  • Our final full day was spent in the sun at the pool.
  • Anna and the girls took a long nap.
  • We all painted our nails fun colors.
  • For dinner we decided to order two large pizzas from Papa John’s. We had a pepperoni and BBQ Hawaiian pizza. Delicious!
  • Anna fed Ayzie a pepper. It took a few seconds for the spice to hit Ayzie. At Ayzlyn’s expense we all had a good laugh. Then Adi fed Ayzie another pepper with the same reaction.
  • Our final girly movie was ‘2 Weeks Notice.’

Easter Fun

The girls and I were leaving Easter morning for our girls week so we had lots of Easter fun with Dad Saturday.  We had a great Easter egg hunt with our wonderful neighbors/ friends followed by fun in the playground.  Mom and Dad then needed down time where we watched a Red Box special and tried to get the girls to take naps.  We went to get Goldie some friends.  Now we have 3 more additions to our family.  Scott and the girls have really liked feeding and seeing the fish swim around.  I have to admit it is nicer than dogs for now.
Megan came by around 4pm to color eggs, while I finished up dinner.  Finished the night with a walk on the Seawall.

Happy Birthday Scott

Everyone knows how much DAD is loved at our house.  This years celebrations were supposed to be Scott going on a boat with some friends for 6 hours deep sea fishing.  Due to high swells in the ocean the trip was postponed to the 30th....  The day for the girls and I was going to be decorating the house, going to the carnival, and making a special lunch and cake for Dad.  You know it’s amazing how sometimes things just work out better than planned!
Instead Scott got to be part of our day.  We went to the carnival where Ayzie got her face painted, we played carnival games, jumped in the bouncers, Scott got both girls through the bouncer obstacle course and up the rope hill so they could go down the huge slide TWICE.  Poor guy... still don’t really know how he did it.   The morning was filled with prizes and well.... the birthday boy decided we could bring home a new addition to the family.... GOLDIE!!!  After the carnival we headed to a pizza shop where we enjoyed a ranch flavored pizza.  Once fed and feeling good we headed over to the store to buy goldie a home, food, and all the things you can for your 25 cent gold fish.  The deal was that if goldie died in the car while we were in the store I was returning everything.  GOLDIE lived through his hour in the car and ended up a very happy fish in his little home that lights up in 4 different colors.
We got home and while Scott focused on getting goldie’s home ready we focused on decorating.  Then bike riding for the girls, beach, dinner and home made molten lava cake.  Scott liked it enough to tell Mel  (sister) about it in great detail so I think that qualifies it as a success.

I had to just add a picture of Ayzie being so good to go to the big potty and Adi's cuteness with wanting to change her baby doll's diaper.

Can't get enough of Dad

When Ayzie gets tired you know because the thumb goes in the mouth and the other hand on her ear.  Lately she has evolved to thumb in mouth and hand on Daddy’s ear.  We all know how much Adi adores her Dad and would choose him over anyone to do anything for her.... which I am grateful for because when Dad’s around only Dad can change her diaper. :)  Ayzie on the other hand always prefers me, until lately.  We went in yesterday to have both girls checked out by the pediatrician.    Apparently Ayzie has an ear infection.  She’s been sick off and on for a month now and she’s been having a hard time sleeping because of congestion for most of that time.  At night when when she wakes up she yells “Daddy, Daddy.”  Last night she screamed out for him about 10 times.  I feel bad for poor Dad.... I know he wishes he could be the one with her but because of flights and school he has to sleep.
For your viewing pleasure I have added a picture of Adi with all her excitement that Daddy dressed and yes, even did her pig tails today.  Thanks Daddy!!!!

Another little bit of information-  We have gone 3 days without any accidents.  Ayzie has been saying "potty" or going to the potty by herself.  What a little champ.
Latest on Adi-
We have been approved to go to the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham AL for two specialities.  We are hoping the other 4 specialists get approved soon.  We found out this hospital does have a sleep lab for peds which I hope is where we will be getting most of our most important questions answered... one question being why can’t my child get into deep REM sleep?  The pediatrician talked about having Adi admitted for at least 3 days to make it easier on getting studies, blood work, tests, etc done.  I smiled.  At this point I understand it is so much easier to get things ordered and done when your child is hospitalized.  I already called Megan to see if she would come along for the ride and she will, which will be the biggest blessing especially with Ayzie.  I also have an Aunt and Uncle who live up there who I will contact soon.  This is exciting and I am so grateful this will hopefully be happening sooner than later.
